Salary    £40,738 to £41,731 including MFS per annum

About this opportunity

Cumberland Council have vacancies for experienced mechanics across their workshops within Carlisle, Dalston, Workington and Whitehaven.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join us and work alongside our committed mechanics who make up the workshop team.

You will

• undertake inspections, services and repairs across a diverse fleet of both vehicles and plant
• prepare our HGV fleet for MOT testing by the DVSA
• carry out MOT tests on class 4, 5 and 7 vehicles
• undertake taxi inspections

All of the above are central to the Council’s ability to deliver its priority services for local people.  This is a highly valued and varied role which gives real opportunity for career growth.  All posts are salaried on a 37-hour week, with opportunity to increase earnings through overtime with the many additional benefits of working for a forward focused local authority, including the opportunity to become a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.  

This role is available on a permanent basis.
