We have a great opportunity to join the Corporate Health and Safety Team at Corporate Health and Safety Advisor level.
Reporting to one of the Health and Safety Business Partners and as part of our friendly and supportive team, you will provide health and safety advice and guidance within our service areas and maintained schools.
You will work closely with Managers to help us monitor and develop excellent management practices, identifying, reducing and controlling risks to our employees and customers. Your work will help us to ensure that the Council complies with its statutory duties as an employer under the Health and Safety at Work Act and responsibilities under relevant acts/ regulations.
The Council provide many services to our communities and work in partnership with a wide range of external organisations and supporting safe practices in our maintained schools.
About this opportunity
In this role you will be providing advice and guidance to a nominated Council service area on a wide range of health and safety management topics. You will undertake audits and inspections to monitor the implementation of health and safety management procedures. Your work will help to ensure the care and safety of employees, service users and the school family of Westmorland and Furness Council.

Who are we looking for?
The right person for this role will have existing experience in a health and safety advisory/ audit role as well as good knowledge of legislation and managing work related health and safety risks. You will work well both as an individual and as enjoy working as part of a team. You will already possess a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent and be willing to work towards a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
