About this opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible, and creative person to teach English in Whitehaven and surrounding areas. This role supports our learners on GCSE and Functional Skills pathways from Entry 1 to Level 2 and if you have experience of teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages this would be an advantage.
You must hold a recognised teaching qualification or be in the process of working towards one and have recent experience of teaching accredited Functional Skills or GCSE. It would also be an advantage if you had experience of working with ESOL learners, learners at Entry level and/or supporting learners with low starting points.
Our service works with learners of all abilities whose skills levels range from absolute beginner to intermediate and beyond. All are looking for our support to improve their life chances and job prospects. You will need to demonstrate the ability to teach to meet a range of learning styles and support learners with diverse needs.
Teaching hours will be varied. Classes take place in daytime and evening hours and due to the vulnerable nature of our learners, we will need you to carry out your teaching face to face and online.
Our Whitehaven tutors pride themselves on being a friendly ‘can-do’ team and we’d love you to come and join us to make a real difference to people’s lives.
DBS - This role requires a basic DBS check.
