About this opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and talented individual to take on this exciting new role within Active Cumbria. The role will be part of a national network of Sport Welfare Officers, supporting National Govering Bodies of Sport (NGBs) and their local clubs to promote good practice and safe sport for children, young people and adults in Cumbria.
The Officer will add capacity and expertise to the existing safeguarding work of NGBs and Active Cumbria. They will help develop positive safeguarding cultures in local clubs and shape and share good practice, providing training, advice, support and guidance.
They will work closely with other Sport Welfare Officers, NGBs, clubs, statutory safeguarding agencies, and other relevant organisations to connect people working on welfare and safeguarding, both inside and outside sport.We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and influencing skills, along with high level organizational, and relationship skills, as well as having a positive and flexible attitude.
This post will involve working from home and other Council bases, with travel around Cumbria expected as well as some regional and national travel.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children and Adults Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with adults and/or Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with adults and Children.
