Cumbria County Council has the fourth largest highways network in England with 7,900 km of carriageway, 4,000 km of footways and cycleways, 145,000 gullies and 45,000 lighting columns.
As a Civil Engineering Technician apprentice in the Highways service you will be actively involved in ensuring that this vital asset is maintained to ensure the network operates efficiently.
You will be expected to effectively assist with a range of duties connected with the various Highways Service Areas including Asset Management, Bridges and Structures, Traffic Management, Network Management, Streetworks and Operational Delivery.

Aptitude Assessments and Eligibility Checks will take place as part of the recruitment process. Applicants will be contacted directly by the Training Provider Gen 2 and must successfully complete the assessment and check by 17th June 2021 to be considered for the next stage.

Due to the coronavirus, we are operating virtual interviews. This will preferably be undertaken using the Microsoft Teams software which is currently free for new users, however if there are any issues with accessing this technology, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements prior to the interviews.
Medicals: Candidates who are successful at the interview stage will be required to pass a medical, which will be held in Penrith on a date to be confirmed.
