About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for three enthusiatic and commited social work practitioners, to join the Safeguarding Adults Team in Cumberland covering Allerdale and Copeland and supporting the rest of the Cumberland North as required.
The Safeguarding Adults Team within Adult Social Care, undertakes statutory responsibility for the Care Act 2014 Section 42 duties.
As a Safeguarding Social Work practitioner, you will support decision making for the safeguarding referrals received through the Single Point of Access across Cumberland. The team undertakes the S42 enquiry work, leading on safeguarding case conferences and the coordination of risk assessments in collaboration with the adult and key partners. An integral function of the role is to develop strong key partnerships by working together, whilst providing advice and guidance to both internal and external partners.
The Safeguarding Social Work post is a pivitol role within a supportive and dynamic team, providing a statutory operational function to all safeguarding operations: carrying a caseload of safeguarding enquiries and leading on these enquries, to ensure people are safe from harm, abuse and neglect. As well as being a point of contact for advice to the wider teams, the role will develop, shape and promote positive partner relationships with all external partners including; police, health and the third sector.
Candidates should demonstrate a passion for making safeguarding personal from a strengths based approach. They should have transferable skills and ideally, experience of working within the; Care Act and Mental Capacity Act, have an understanding of the principles of safeguarding, the CSAB safeguarding adults threshold tool, the policies and procedures of safeguarding and their application to practice: to keep people safe, support adult’s to achieve their identified outcomes and to live free from abuse and neglect.

DBS
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Adults Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with adults. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with adults.
