Environmental and Sustainability EI329e
Job description
Environment and Sustainability Lead EI329e
Salary:
43,857 - 44,863
Hours:
37 hours per week
Workbase:
County Offices, Kendal, but can be discussed with the successful candidate
Contract:
Fixed-term contract, 18 months from start date
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join us as Environment and Sustainability Lead. The right candidate
will have knowledge of environment, sustainability, and biodiversity to work in our Environment and Regulatory Services Team.
This is a really exciting time for the County Council’s Environment team as we grow to respond to the challenges of Net Zero Carbon. We are working to embed sustainability, adaptations, environmental net gain and climate resilience into our capital projects, planning, highways, and flood risk management activity.
The Council is committed to improving green space and the built environment to help reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, improve health and wellbeing, reduce flooding risks, and to increase bee pollination and wildlife. The Council has recently agreed to create a ring fenced £1.2million for 2021/22 for Environmental Improvements to build on our existing programme of work, including but not limited to: enhanced verge maintenance, tree maintenance and replacement and footpath maintenance.
We will expect you to ensure the Council fulfils its statutory and policy obligations and has appropriate systems, processes, protocols, and performance management in place. You will develop links with Local Committees, working with Members and colleagues across the Council to develop new projects, support existing projects and embed carbon reduction, biodiversity and sustainability at a locality level.
You will be expected to build on the positive working relationships, networks, and partnerships with key organisations on sustainability and climate change.
