About this opportunity
The Capital Programme team is responsible for the core delivery of the Council’s c.£60m-£80m/year Capital Programme developing projects which make a real ‘on the ground’ difference to our communities, places and people in Westmorland and Furness. On a daily basis the programme develops and maintains new council buildings including care homes, schools, community centres and offices; construct’s and maintains highways and cycleways; builds new flood defences and drives the council’s internal decarbonisation programme for its services.
The Project Lead role is a key position and will support the Council by playing a leading role in the Capital programme Place Portfolio team. This team manages and delivers town centre and public realm improvement works, community building refurbishment projects, and the active travel programme.
Who we are looking for…
We are looking for a Project Manager who is self-reliant and driven individual who has excellent knowledge and practical delivery experience of Capital Works projects.
The candidates will:
Candidates could come from a variety of backgrounds including (but not limited to) project management, quantity surveying, property management, building mechanical or electrical engineering, facilities management, building surveying, architecture, civil engineering or contract management. Ideally candidates will have an excellent level of understanding of procuring and managing consultants and contractors throughout a project lifecycle as well as project reporting (risks, programme, quality).
You can expect to work in a high performing team with likeminded individuals. You can also expect high amounts of accountability and responsibility to help the whole Council deliver its Capital programme.
