Who we are looking for…
Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking to recruit a Senior Planning Officer within the Development Management service area to work on minerals and waste applications and site monitoring. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a caseload of minerals and waste planning applications and appeals, meeting national performance targets, and supporting continuous improvements to the overall service. Monitoring of minerals and waste sites would also be carried out. Attending the Area and Strategic Planning committees to present applications will also be required along with attendance at committee site visits.
As a Senior Planning Officer you will assist the Leader, Minerals and Waste to deliver the Councils Development Management minerals and waste (DM) function.
The successful candidate will need to possess a relevant degree or qualification and have previous relevant experience processing minerals and waste applications. They will require good IT skills and have the ability to research case law and good practice in the further development of this area of work.
