Salary: From September 2024 - £6.40 per hour - £236.80 per week - National Apprenticeship Wage - during first 12 months. (If 19 years old or over, after 12 months your salary will increase to minimum wage for your age)
Hours: 37 hours per week

Apprenticeship Duration: Between 18 and 36 months

As an apprentice in the Highways Service you will be actively involved in ensuring that this vital asset is maintained to ensure the highways network operates efficiently.
Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative – Level 2 – You will be involved in a range of activities including maintenance, inspection and repair of carriageways and footways, bridges and structures, drainage and winter maintenance.
Civil Engineering Technician – Level 3 - You will have the opportunity to work within a variety of services to further widen your experience, working with experienced staff on real projects. You will be expected to effectively assist with a range of duties connected with the various Highways Service Areas including Flood and Development Management, Asset Management, Bridges and Structures, Traffic Management, Network Management, Streetworks and Operational Delivery.

Essential criteria:
For Level 2 apprenticeships – a good standard of English, Maths and ICT and be prepared to learn further. No formal qualifications are required.
For Level 3 Apprenticeships - Minimum of 5 x GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language.
