Location: As part of Cumberland Council, the 2 x Health & Wellbeing Officer – Smoking Cessation posts will be based at West Cumbria House.
The 1 x Health & Wellbeing Officer (fixed term) will be based at Cumbria House.
All posts will work in communities within the Cumberland Council area.
Contract: 2 x Permanent/ 1 x Fixed Term (up to 2 years).

We have the opportunity for 3 Health & Wellbeing Officer to join our team, working with individuals aged 16 years and over across the council, who would like to make positive changes to their lives. 2 posts, based in West and South Cumberland will have a specific focus on quitting smoking.
Most of the people we work with have faced a period of crisis or have multiple issues that they need to understand and work through, making this role both challenging and extremely rewarding for the right person.
About the role
Within the role, you will need to able to adopt a coaching approach and have the personal skills to build trusting and authentic relationships with individuals in our community. You will work in a non-directive style, help people to stop smoking and motivate them to make positive changes, whilst also understanding and reducing any barriers to change.
Specific to the Smoking Cessation posts x 2:
Smoking remains one the biggest causes of death and ill health in the UK. As part of the local authority’s commitment to becoming Smoke Free in 2030, funding has been allocated to the H&WT to provide people who smoke the opportunities to access appropriate support to quit smoking at the right time for them.

DBS
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with an Adults Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with adults. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with adults.
