About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Outdoor & Leisure team at Westmorland and Furness Council to deliver a vibrant and diverse Playgrounds offer to both our residents and visitors. This will encompass Playgrounds, Multi Use Games Area’s, Skateparks, Pump Tracks and Outdoor Fitness Equipment.
The successful candidate will be a key part of the team, being responsible for the day to day delivery of a safe, legal play provision which is complaint to the British standard. The candidate will deliver the service in line with the Playground Strategy, alongside looking for opportunities to how we deliver with innovation and sustainability and ensure our facilities inspire, challenge and engage children. Furthermore the candidate will be able to foster and sustain strong community relationships and able to interact with a wide range of audiences.
A key element of the role will be to provide effect team management and technical expertise to the team throughout Westmorland and Furness to ensure that the team are engaged and demonstrate a high standard of compliance and continuity. The post holder must ensure that statutory duties are properly discharged and ensure that performance and risks are managed in line with statutory responsibilities.
The post holder will be responsible for leading on a long term programme of improvement, redevelopment as well as new installations of playground facilities and will be able develop and lead a rolling project management programme of investment, seeking funding opportunities and working with stakeholders, both internal and external. Furthermore, the successful candidate will ensure that playgrounds are accessible and inclusive and will have the ability to think widely about the needs of the users and their play experience.
