About this opportunity
This is a role for a Traffic Management Officer to cover works and projects across the Westmorland and Furness Council area. Post could be based to one of Barrow, South Lakeland or Eden.
The applicant must have highways experience and be familiar with traffic orders. The role will require you to be able to produce scheme drawings and work tickets and also draft reports.
The post is public facing, and you should have good communication / person / written skills and be able to work in team environment. This role includes being involved with programming the workload of the traffic team for the relevant area.
The work of the traffic team includes the preparation, design and processing of temporary and permanent traffic management schemes (including casualty reduction schemes and parking schemes), liaising with the public and stakeholders and working with colleagues both within the highways service and throughout the Council.
This is predominantly an office-based role with some site work / meetings, and you will be responsible for ensuring all works are undertaken in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Councils service procedures. You will represent the Council and promote a good relationship with the general public and members by providing advice and information concerning all aspects of traffic activities and related matters. The ideal candidate will be proactive, have excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach.
