We are looking for the right person to join our team as an ICT Field Engineer, delivering efficient ICT technical support services for Cumberland Council (Hosted)
Cumberland Council is currently delivering a hosted ICT Service for Cumberland Council, Westmoreland and Furness Council and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service. The provision of these services will be disaggregated at a near future date.
This is an exciting and challenging time to join us, as throughout the organisation we are working in many new ways, and our team is ensuring as many service areas and working scenarios are supported, and enabling the Council to provide all of it’s essential functions in innovative and dynamic ways.
Our Service
The Field Engineers are currently involved in many ICT improvement initiative projects which include the implantation of the new Cumberland Council Infrastructure and devices, ICT Modernisation for Care Homes and Cumbria Fire, Samsung Tablets, Windows 11 to improve remote working, Library and ICT Improvement program, a reliable Room Booking System throughout the Council and Surface Hubs for Remote Meetings, Smartphones for all staff to ensure a more reliable and constant service and there will be many more ICT projects to come. As well as the day to day support of all council staff in the Kendal and Barrow areas with ICT incidents and tasks and office moves.
The Role
As a Field Engineer, you will be based at Cumbria House lone working providing 2nd line ICT support on a daily basis; part of the Field Engineer team of 15 (all based in different Council office), managing and organizing the installation and 2nd Line support of a variety of ICT related products and equipment to the Council’s many ICT end-users based at Cumbria House.
You will work directly with key service areas, providing advanced technical skills and expertise to help successfully deliver projects and improvement initiatives, as well as delivering technical training to end-users and colleagues as and when required.
You will evaluate and configure software and hardware ICT resources, ensuring they meet end-users requirements, whilst also analyzing and resolving any product issues. We are looking for someone who can contribute to service improvement; capturing knowledge, working on technical documentation, business continuity planning, and testing technologies to ensure suitability for deployment.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will work in a flexible, professional manner, and be an excellent team player, as this role involves liaising with the wider FE Team, ICT Department, ICT end-users and third-party suppliers. We are looking for a great communicator, who can develop professional relationships and can adapt to their audience in an effective and engaging way.
It is essential you have in-depth knowledge and experience of being a Field Engineer in computer technology, installation and configuration of Windows 11, SCCM Imaging, Smartphones, Service Now, printers, PCs, laptops, Tablets, Kyocera MFD Printers and other related hardware, and networking, as well as excellent experience in a similar role. The role will involve a mixture of teamwork and independent work, so we are looking for someone organised, hard-working and who can prioritise their workload.
