This Apprentice will work in the Commissioning, Procurement and Contracts team. They will be working predominantly in the area of commissioning, procurement and contract management of Transport Services, but also across all goods, works and services in the County Council.
As one of the largest buyers within Cumbria, the Council is acutely aware that its spending patterns will affect, either directly or indirectly, the lives of many who live or work in the county. The Council is committed to taking commissioning and procurement decisions in a responsible manner and through our procurements the Council intends to make a difference to the people, businesses and communities we live in. You will be working predominantly in the area of commissioning, procurement and contract management of transport services (which includes Home to School Transport, SEND transport and the Rural Wheels Scheme) and you will, with support and training, be processing and assessing school transport applications, taking rural wheels bookings from members of the public, placing bookings with operators, tendering transport routes, evaluating tenders and answering school transport queries. In addition you will be given the opportunity to see what the wider team does which could be tendering for any type of goods, services or works that the Council needs to buy. This is a busy team that touches every department of the Council and you will get the opportunity to get involved in a huge range and variety of tasks.
