Salary 4.15 per hour - 153.55 per week - National Apprenticeship Wage - during first 12 months. (if 19 years old or over, after 12 months your salary will increase to minimum wage for your age)

Cumbria County Council has the fourth largest highways network in England with 7,900 km of carriageway, 4,000 km of footways and cycleways, 145,000 gullies and 45,000 lighting columns.
As a Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative apprentice in the Highways service you will be actively involved in ensuring that this vital asset is maintained to ensure the network operates efficiently.
You will be involved in a range of activities including maintenance, inspection and repair of carriageways and footways, bridges and structures, drainage and winter maintenance.

Essential Criteria
Please note that your application will be assessed against the Qualifications; Skills and Personal Qualities and Behaviours listed in the Apprenticeship Description. In your application form you must therefore clearly demonstrate:
-That you meet all qualification requirements, and
-That you have or would develop, the skills, personal qualities and behaviours required of the role and provide examples where possible
Aptitude Assessments and Eligibility Checks will take place between 9TH and 27th March 2020. All applicants must be available to attend on the day specified in order to be considered for the next stage in the recruitment process.
Medicals – The successful candidates will be required to pass a medical, which will be held in Penrith on a date to be confirmed.
