About this opportunityWe are seeking a professional and motivated individual to join the Coroners Officers team, and to provide high quality, efficient and effective support to HM Coroners and the Coroners Service in Cumbria, and to coordinate and manage new and existing cases that have been referred to HM Coroner.
You will be part of the team providing the necessary support to enable HM Coroner to fulfil their legal and statutory responsibilities as a ‘Independent Judicial Officer’.
The role will require commitment, enthusiasm, and motivation, working to tight timelines as well as multi-tasking and balancing a number of conflicting priorities. You will need to be conscientious and hardworking, and have the desire to provide high quality, ‘right first time’ support to HM Coroner, and importantly provide support to families / next of kin and the bereaved at what is one of the most difficult periods in their lives, having lost a loved one in sudden and often difficult circumstances.
You must be able to have difficult conversations with families / next of kin and the bereaved, and potentially challenge stakeholders and the information they have provided to the HM Coroner.
Significant demonstrable case management experience is essential in this post, and a working knowledge of and/or background in one of the following would be an advantage:
Previous demonstrable and proven experience dealing with a complex and/or difficult subject matter, distressed individuals and/or the bereaved is required.
Ultimately, the role of Coroners Officer is interesting and extremely rewarding, supporting the statutory role of HM Coroner, and crucially helping families / the bereaved and next of kin at what is one of the most difficult times in their lives, having lost a loved one suddenly or in tragic circumstances.
