Cumbria County Council are looking for professional, methodical and objective individuals to join us as Investigations Officers. These roles have been newly created/added at an exciting time of expansion, development and innovation within the Legal and Democratic Services team, and they will play a key role in supporting both the Legal and HR/People Management team.
As an Investigations Officer, you will conduct investigations into a wide range of HR and other matters, ensuring they are fair, thorough, and are in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures. This also includes looking into complaints made to the Council regarding any issues around the Services the Council provides.
The role sits within the Legal team, but works in strong partnerships with the HR/People Management and Complaints teams: as well as undertaking the investigations, you will be responsible for critically evaluating and analysing findings, and continually seeking improvement.
The ideal candidates for these roles will have substantial experience in conducting investigations in line with HR policies, HR procedures, and complaints, as well as knowledge of writing reports, accessing documents and records, and meeting with witnesses. We are looking for people with high levels of negotiation, influencing, listening and questioning skills, who are able to effectively undertake interviews; gather evidence; be able to present reports at hearings and appeals; and operate in a highly confidential manner.
