We are currently seeking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Bridge Engineers, to join our Bridges team based in either Kendal or Penrith. You will be one of the key responsible engineers for the design of new and improvement related activities, including bridges and other highway structures, and for the condition assessment and maintenance activities.
The Bridges and Structures Team are responsible for the inspection, assessment, design, maintenance and procurement of works for some 3500 known structures within the County, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, sea walls and cattle grids. The impact of adverse weather over the last 5 years has resulted in a significant increase in workload for the team both in terms of inspection and maintenance works, which require design and procurement. This Senior Bridge Technician post will strengthen the team in the west of the County and ensure that the team can deliver the current and future workloads.
The Role
You will also be responsible for commissioning, managing and carry out surveys, design, specification and supervisions associated with the improvement and maintenance of bridges and other highwa/y structures while also monitoring and reporting on progress of projects and work programmes, including contribution to our long-term strategic planning.
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidates will be proactive, flexible, self-motivated, have considerable experience of bridge and structures design to national standards including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and have knowledge of the application of technical standards, specifications, systems, guidelines, regulations, policies, and legislation relating to the relevant work areas.
