About this opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to support the newly formed Westmorland and Furness Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team to carry out Best Interests Assessments and reviews in accordance with the DoLS framework. The post holders will be Best Interests Assessor qualified.
As a Best Interest Assessor, you will provide effective safeguards for members of the public who fall within the remit of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) legislation by providing a high quality assessment and advice based on the statutory requirements arising from the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), ensuring compliance with Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Working within relevant policies, practises, and procedures under the direction of the DoLS Team Manager, you will coordinate the DoLS assessment process within statutory timescales. Recognising safeguarding concerns, you will act in line with local and national policy to improve outcomes for people. You will provide expert advice to ensure an effective and consistent multi-agency approach to DoLS.
The post holder will actively promote the work of Westmorland and Furness Council, internally and externally, on the development and delivery of the DoLS team service.
The post is a bank post zero hours contract and work undertaken will be outwith and separate to the duties of any substantive post and working hours.
