Salary: £38,296 - £39,493
The advertised salary includes a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and /or working conditions of the role.
Hours: 2 roles x 37 hours per week
Workbase: Eamont Building, Skirsgill, Penrith
From the 1st of April 2023, this role will sit in Westmorland and Furness Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to expand your experience, develop your career and work alongside experienced individuals who are passionate about providing key Safeguarding services to children and young people across Cumbria.
The Safeguarding Hub, based in Penrith is the central contact point for initial child safety concerns for both the public and professionals. We are a well-supported team and have strong working relationships with many multi-agency partners, allowing us to understand, assess and address the immediate needs for children.
The role is responsible for carrying out office based safeguarding assessments and working with multi-agency partners, to achieve quality analyses to improve the outcomes for all children and young people referred to Cumbria children’s services.
You will be working in a well-established team, who are experienced and supportive, especially during the challenges of the role. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to progress their career, expand their development, and provide a key contribution, essential to supporting Cumbria County Council's Children services.
The ideal candidate will have experience of carrying out assessments to understand the level of safety in a family over a diverse range of circumstances. The assessments are office based, over the telephone and therefore it is essential that the ideal candidate has exceptional communication skills and the ability to empower families to develop meaningful plans to increase their children’s safety.
Knowledge in the following areas is beneficial but not necessarily required initially, as on-going training will be provided; Child Sexual Exploitation, Missing Children, Domestic Abuse. Experience of Signs of Safety would be valuable to the role as this is the current approach used throughout Cumbria children’s social care.

The successful applicants will be employed by Cumbria County Council until 31.3.23. As of 1.4.23, employment will transfer under TUPE regulations to Westmorland & Furness Council; this will be further discussed at interview.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s and Adults Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with adults and Children.
It is an offence for people who are barred from working with Children and Adults to apply for roles that involve regulated activity.
