About this opportunity:
Cumberland Council are seeking to employ two Lawyers within its Adult Social Care Legal Team legal team. The successful candidate will deal with all aspects of adult social care law, conducting advocacy and delivering high quality and practical legal services to support the Council and, where required, commissioning and managing external legal advice and representation.
You will manage your own caseload of Court of Protection matters. The work will include the preparation of cases before the Court and pre proceedings work. The position involves advocacy in the Court of Protection as well as the provision of legal advice and assistance across all levels of the local authority.
You will receive the support of dedicated and experienced legal officers, and be part of a team of experienced lawyers, whilst benefitting from overall supervision from the Senior Lawyer for the team.
You will work in a friendly, open and honest environment, and as a service, we strongly encourage the progression and development of our employees.
You will work closely with staff in the Adult Social Care service, providing practical advice in a timely manner. You will give guidance on the implications of legislation, case law and other emerging developments in the adults social care area.
Cumberland Council is currently working both remotely and in the office environment.
In person attendance at Court, key meetings and some office attendance will be required.

We are looking for qualified and admitted solicitors, barristers or legal executives, ideally with experience and knowledge of adult’s social care law but we will consider applicants with no experience in this area.
