It is really important to us that Cumbria is a great place to be a child and grow up; a place of opportunity where young people are able to live happy and productive lives and a place where young people will want to live and work in the future, so we are looking for someone with genuine interest in our service and with a strong understanding of children’s legislation and the statutory responsibilities of the local authority.
We are looking for someone who can analyse information and support decision making that will lead to appropriate care planning for children and young people. You will be managing a caseload and supporting carers to meet the needs of children especially in the areas of placement stability, education, health and contact with family.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and young people who are looked after by the local authority and will include work with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, liaising with partner agencies and other key stakeholders to ensure an effective service.
Cumbria County Council is a modern and supportive employer, and we have both the technology and the commitment to allow our employees to work flexibly and efficiently. Travel around set geographical locations will be required but this can be balanced with homeworking as needed.
The post is full time and based in Carlisle, but there will be a requirement to travel to visit and support children and young people in placement.
This is a Level 3 post.
