We have opportunities to join our friendly and supportive team in Kendal, as an Outreach and Respite Support Worker.
As an Outreach and Respite Residential Support Worker no two days are the same, you will support and develop positive relationships with young people (aged between 8-18) and their families, to reduce the risk of young people going into care and to help prevent those young people already in care from experiencing placement breakdown.

About the role
Supporting with homework, attending appointments, going on a bike ride, or even climbing a Wainwright! You will lead and arrange each shift around the young person and their needs.
You will have the ability to work creatively to provide safety, love and care to children and young people to promote self- esteem and nurture confidence while teaching new skills. You will also work closely with both the young person and families to create and implement coping strategies to make a positive, long-term change in the family home.
This will include advising, guiding, and supporting young people displaying risk-taking behaviors, challenging behavior, drug and alcohol misuse, neglect issues and violence.
This is a fast paced, challenging but extremely rewarding role, and as part of our friendly, vibrant, and approachable team in Kendal you will be well supported and work closely with social workers, health professionals and education providers, to reach the same goal.
We are looking for strong communication skills, and a compassionate attitude. The right candidate will have a passion for our service and want to make a real difference to the lives of young people throughout Cumbria.

What can we offer you!
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s Barred List check.
Please note this role involves working in regulated activity with Children. It is an offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with Children.
