Our Highways team are looking for a proactive individual to join us as an Assistant Traffic Management Technician, covering the County. This is a great opportunity to join the friendly and hard-working team and get involved in assisting the preparation, design, and processing of traffic orders.
The Traffic Management Assistant Technician role is primarily involved with processing applications for road closures and other temporary restrictions on the highway network. The role also requires engagement with the applicants, other teams in the Council and stakeholders. The role is largely computer-based, with some site visits required to support projects.
This role also involves assisting the preparation, design, and processing associated with the implementation of temporary and permanent traffic management schemes and legal orders, including casualty reduction, cycleways, and parking schemes. It’s a role where no two days are the same, and the right candidate will need to be an effective communicator who can liaise with the public, key stakeholders, and colleagues throughout the organisation.
We are looking for someone who can work well in a team environment and who has a flexible approach to work, as this role will involve some work outside of normal office hours. You will have excellent customer service skills and be a strong communicator, as this role is public facing. You will also be keen to learn and progress within the traffic and highways service. The ideal candidate will have experience of working as part of a team, with good knowledge of Microsoft software and confident in the use of IT.
We are looking for an organised and motivated person, with an ability to communicate with stakeholders and effectively build collaborative relationships to work towards the corporate vision of a Council that works with residents, businesses, communities and other organisations to deliver the best services possible within the available resources and to deliver against the three outcomes:
Above all else you need to have a positive "can do" attitude and be passionate about ensuring the Cumbria Highways Network delivers for the residents and road users of the county.
If this sounds like you, then please apply today.
