The Streetworks team are looking for a self-motivated, highly organised individual to lead a team of Compliance officers based across Cumberland.
About the role
The Streetworks team are responsible for the coordination of all utility and highway works across Cumberland Council’s Road network, including the permitting of skips and scaffolds.
You would have leadership and management responsibility for a team of technical and operational staff covering a wide range of statutory highway functions and asset improvement and covering all activities associated with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the Traffic Management Act 2004, the Highways Act 1980, Cumberland Councils Permit Scheme and all relevant codes of practice associated with these acts, including Cumberland Councils Policy and Service Procedures including setting these internal policies and procedures
To provide specialist advice on Cumberland Councils Permit Scheme, technical and legislative advice in relation to the NRSWA 1991 and relevant sections of the Highway Act 1980 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 to determine compliance with the Council’s service procedures.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for someone with an excellent Streetworks background, with exceptional communication skills, and who is ICT literate who can bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role.
Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and pro-active keeping up to date with changes within the industry and have a thorough knowledge of application of standards, specification systems, guidelines, regulations, policies, and legislation appropriate to our service. You will need the ability to maintain strong lasting relationships with internal contacts on all levels as well as external partners and other 3rd parties working on the Cumberland highway network.
We need someone who can represent the council both regionally and nationally and share best practice via the North West Joint Authorities Group UK and the North West Highways Authority and Utilities Committee.
